Product: Func Industries F-Series Competition Mousing Surface While the mouse receives most of the attention when it comes to gaming, the mouse pad can be just as important as the mouse. What good is a quality mouse without a quality surface to use it on? Today we look at the new F-Series mousing surface from Func Industries. This mousing surface uses the two textures and high quality polycarbonate construction that made the sUrface1030 so popular. Will the F-Series live up to the award winning reputation of the sUrface1030? Let’s find out. Packaging The packaging is cleverly designed to be used as a protective carrying case for the mouse pads. This makes it a lot easier to transport the mouse pads around without damaging them. You will definitely want to save the packaging to use as a carrying case as Func Industries doesn’t recommend the mouse pad be rolled up while transporting the mouse pad. If the mousing surface must be rolled up, the top of the surface should be facing outwards as this will minimize the damage done to the pad.

Testing Equipment and Software
The Mousing Surface The F-Series is available in 4 different configurations consisting of two different sizes (11″x14 and 11″x17) and two different surfaces (F10.S and F30.R). The F10.S surface is also known as smooth and the F30.R is also known as rough. For the most part, the selection of size and surface is a matter of personal preference. The smooth surface has less friction on the hand but the mouse seemed to move more fluently over the rough surface. One of the nicest things about the F-Series is the sheer size of the large surface. The large F-Series surface is one of the largest mouse pads I have ever seen. While it may require a lot of space to be able to use such a large surface, it is nice not having to worry about running off the mouse pad in the middle of a firefight. Even the small 11″x14″ surface provided more than enough room on which to mouse around in most situations. The only real downfall of the large mouse surface is that it is only longer than the small mouse pad on top and bottom. It would have been nice if the large surface also had longer sides as well. There were several times in Battlefield 2, when I was flying a plane, that my mouse ran off the top or bottom of the mouse pad and caused me to crash. Before I received the F-Series mouse pads, I would use my mouse on the keyboard tray of my test without any sort of mouse pad. For the most part, this worked just fine. However, when I started to game with the F-Series mousing surfaces, I noticed a big difference in the way the test mice performed. Even my low end Intellimouse benefited from the F-Series mousing surfaces. Both mice that I used during testing performed the same on both the rough and the smooth surfaces. What gamer doesn’t have something to eat or drink at his computer during his late night gaming sessions? Unfortunately spills are bound to happen so in order to see how this mouse pad stood up to food and liquids, I repeatedly smashed some chips and bread and spilled soda all over the surfaces. I then cleaned the surfaces using soap and water, like Func Industries recommended, and was surprised at how well the mouse pads stood up to the abuse. Conclusion Overall, Func Industries’s F-Series mousing surface is an excellent mouse pad that I highly recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive yet high performing mouse pad. It is available in 4 different configurations so there is an F-Series mousing surface to fit everyone’s needs and preferences. The mouse pad endured the abuses that are placed on it by late night gaming and LAN parties without any problems. It would be nice if the larger surface had longer sides, but the length of the sides was only a problem in one of the five games that I played while using the F-Series. I am going to give the F-Series mousing surface from Func Industries a 4.8/5.
